Learning a new language should not depend on knowing English first. We are building NearLingua around underserved language pairs, with clear explanations, structured practice and useful conversations for everyday life and work.
Individual learners can choose an available general course and start directly on the platform. For companies and recruitment partners, we scope tailored training around the languages, roles and communication needs of their people.

Who is NearLingua for?
NearLingua is for people who want practical language learning through a language they understand well. Our focus is underserved language pairs for everyday life and work. Today you can learn Dutch from Afrikaans, with Afrikaans or English explanations, and Brazilian Portuguese from Spanish.
Do the languages have to be related?
No. Our direction is to make well-supported learning available across more starting languages, whether or not they are closely related. Each new pair needs teaching adapted to its learners and language review.
Are Polish to Dutch and Romanian to Dutch available?
Not yet. They are examples of language pairs we are exploring, not courses open for enrolment. We choose future pairs around learner needs, partner demand and the ability to deliver reviewed teaching.
Do I need to know English?
You do not need English for our current courses when using their Afrikaans or Spanish explanations. Check the starting language of each course. English explanations in the Afrikaans-to-Dutch course do not make it a separate English-to-Dutch course.
Do I have to take a placement test?
No. Choose a level yourself or take the optional placement test.
Can I learn on my phone?
Yes. Open NearLingua in your phone’s browser. You can also use a tablet or computer.
